Identity Verification (KYC) Policy
When and why ChronoProxy asks you to verify your identity or business, what we ask for, and how we protect that data.
Last updated: October 21, 2026
1. Why we verify
Most customers can use ChronoProxy without verifying their identity. We ask for verification only when the risk is higher. We do this to:
- prevent fraud and other abuse of our network, as described in our Acceptable Use Policy;
- meet our legal duties, including US sanctions;
- meet the requirements of our Network Partners;
- protect the people whose connections form part of the residential and mobile network.
This policy is part of our Terms of Service.
2. When we ask
We may ask you to verify your identity, and for companies your business, when:
- you ask for access to targets that are blocked by default (see section 5);
- we receive an abuse report about your Account, or we detect suspicious activity;
- you are due an affiliate payout;
- you want a reseller or enterprise arrangement with us;
- we need it for sanctions screening.
We will tell you why we are asking and what we need.
3. What we ask for
Individuals:
- a valid government-issued photo ID, such as a passport, national ID card or driving licence;
- a selfie or a short liveness check, to confirm that the ID belongs to you;
- sometimes, proof of address, such as a recent utility bill or bank statement.
Companies:
- company registration documents;
- the identity of a director or beneficial owner, verified as for individuals;
- your company website;
- a description of your use case: what you will do with the Services, which targets you will access and at what volume.
We ask only for what we need for the reason we gave you.
4. How it works
You upload your documents and complete the selfie or liveness step on the vendor's secure page. The vendor checks that the documents are genuine and that they match you, and sends us the result.
Automated checks usually finish soon after you submit your documents. A manual review by the vendor or our team takes longer. We will contact you by email if we need anything else.
We may also review company documents and use-case descriptions ourselves. If you have questions during the process, write to [email protected].
5. Use-case review for blocked targets
Our gateway blocks some targets by default: government and military sites, some banking, financial and ticketing sites, and mail ports. Our Acceptable Use Policy explains the details.
To request access, verify your identity and send us your use case. Tell us:
- which targets or ports you need;
- why you need them, and what you will do there;
- the expected volume of requests or Traffic;
- for regulated targets, why your use is lawful (for example, monitoring your own company's pages).
We decide each request case by case. We may approve access for specific targets, products or volumes only, and we may withdraw it if your use changes or breaks our rules. Some targets cannot be unlocked, for example where a Network Partner blocks them.
6. If you decline or fail verification
Verification is your choice. However, if you do not complete it when we ask, or if it fails, we may:
- keep blocked targets locked;
- withhold an affiliate payout until verification is complete;
- limit or suspend your Account;
- close your Account.
If we close your Account, we will refund your unused Balance where the law allows. We cannot make refunds where the law forbids them, for example to a person subject to sanctions. Our Refund Policy explains how refunds are paid.
If you think we made a mistake, write to [email protected] and we will review it.
7. How we store and protect your data
- We receive the verification result and the details we need to identify you.
- We store verification data with restricted access. Only the people who need it for verification, abuse investigation or legal compliance can see it.
- We use this data only for verification, fraud and abuse prevention, sanctions compliance and our legal duties. We do not use it for marketing and we do not sell it.
- We disclose it to authorities only in response to valid legal process (such as a subpoena, court order or warrant), or in an emergency involving danger of death or serious physical injury.
Retention. We keep verification results for 5 years after your Account closes, unless the law requires us to keep them for a longer or shorter time.
8. Sanctions screening
We follow US sanctions administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). We do not provide the Services to:
- persons on the Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) list or other sanctions lists;
- persons located in, or ordinarily resident in, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, the Crimea region, or the so-called Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics.
We may screen your name, company, country and payment details against sanctions lists at any time, and we may ask for verification to complete the screening.
9. Your privacy rights
You have rights over your personal data, including verification data, such as the right to access it and to ask us to correct or delete it, within the limits of the law. For details and how to use these rights, see our Privacy Policy or write to [email protected].
