London and the regions
LINX runs two London peering networks, with 834 and 317 connected networks on PeeringDB, and LINX Manchester adds 135. Birmingham is the largest council area outside London.
1.74M+ residential and 37K+ mobile IPs, with exits in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland rather than London alone. Choose the UK with -cc-gb, never -cc-uk; static ISP and datacenter IPs are available.
England holds most of the UK’s 69.3 million people (ONS, mid-2024), yet local results, delivery terms and the nearest internet exchange all change once you leave it.

Glasgow (650,300) and Edinburgh (530,680) are Scotland’s largest council areas, and LINX Scotland connects 32 networks.
Cardiff’s council area has 383,919 people. LINX Wales, based in Newport, connects 10 networks.
Northern Ireland is part of the UK, so its exits come under gb, not Ireland’s ie. Many UK retailers deliver differently or charge more for Northern Ireland postcodes.

BT, Sky and Virgin Media together reach about two thirds of British internet users, and they split sharply on IPv6.
| Network | Access | ASN | Share of UK users | IPv6 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BT | Fibre and copper | AS2856 | 26.2% | 90.0% |
| Sky Broadband | Fibre and copper | AS5607 | 20.9% | 93.5% |
| Virgin Media | Cable and fibre | AS5089 | 18.9% | 0.8% |
| TalkTalk | Fibre and copper | AS13285 | 5.7% | 0.5% |

| Community Fibre | Full fibre, London | AS201838 | 0.3% | — |
TalkTalk’s AS13285 is still registered to TalkTalk in RIPE’s records but listed under PlatformX Communications, its former wholesale arm, on PeeringDB. Sources: APNIC Labs GB table, RIPEstat and PeeringDB, 18 October 2026.
British networks split cleanly on IPv6. BT and Sky households are 90% IPv6-capable or more; Virgin Media (0.8%), TalkTalk (0.5%) and Plusnet (0.8%) are almost entirely IPv4. If a target answers over IPv4 only, or treats the two protocols differently, the network behind an exit decides which path you get.
Mobile is mixed too. Three is about half IPv6 in APNIC’s data and O2 about 1%, so most O2 phones share public IPv4 addresses through carrier-grade NAT. That sharing makes a UK mobile exit costly for a platform to block outright, although Cloudflare found such shared addresses rate-limited about three times as often as others. Pace requests on one: you are borrowing a reputation thousands of people rely on.
Vodafone and Three completed their merger on 31 May 2025. VodafoneThree has about 29 million customers and is owned 51% by Vodafone and 49% by CK Hutchison. Virgin Media O2 reported 46.4 million mobile connections in Q2 2026, wholesale included, and virtual operators running on the three networks hold about 24% of the market.
Outdoors, 5G from at least one operator reaches 94–97% of premises (Ofcom, 2025). In routing data a UK carrier exit usually belongs to O2’s AS35228, Three’s AS206067, Vodafone’s AS5378 or AS25135, or BT’s AS2856: EE’s own AS12576 was not announced in October 2026, so EE traffic appears to run under its parent BT. Expect the Vodafone and Three numbers to consolidate as the networks merge.

ONS mid-2024 estimates for local authorities. Some county-wide councils, such as North Yorkshire and Cornwall, are larger but are not cities. Greater London is 33 boroughs rather than one council, so it is not in this list, and Manchester’s council area is a small part of Greater Manchester.
Buy Box, sellers and Prime delivery promises for UK shoppers.

Google has 91.39% of UK search. Google announced in April 2025 that it is redirecting country domains such as google.co.uk to google.com, so set the country and language parameters from a UK exit, and track mobile too: it is 53.6% of UK page views. SERP setup.

Since 25 July 2025 the Online Safety Act has required many services to run age checks for UK users, and plenty of products now behave differently for a British visitor. If you build or operate such a flow, test it the way your users meet it: which pages trigger the check, which verification providers appear, what happens on mobile.
A UK exit is the right tool for that QA on your own product. It is not a way around protections meant for children, and we do not support that use.

| Residential | 1.74M+ IPs in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland | Rotating, or sticky up to 60 min | $4.80 → $2.70 per GB |

| Datacenter | Dedicated IPs; availability by country on the order page | Static | $1.20 per IP / month |
The ISO code for the United Kingdom is GB, so the key is -cc-gb; a login with -cc-uk is rejected. This loop opens sessions until one lands in the city you want.

breakLINX, the London Internet Exchange, has more than 900 members and peaked at 9.29 Tbps on its main London network in January 2026, during a week of European football. London is also Europe’s largest colocation market, at about 1.13 GW in 2025 (CBRE).
One backbone measured about 13 ms round trip from London to Frankfurt and 64 ms to New York in October 2026. A UK exit therefore sits between American and continental storefronts when one job compares all three.
UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 still frame any collection of personal data, now amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025. The ICO lists all of its data-protection provisions as in force since June 2026; among the changes, some analytics cookies no longer need consent. Public information is still personal data if it identifies someone.
Prices, stock, listings and rankings are the safe core of UK data projects. Anything about identifiable people needs a lawful basis.

Targeting uses ISO 3166 country codes, and the code for the United Kingdom is GB. A login with -cc-uk is rejected; use -cc-gb.
Region keys are planned for a later release. Today you target the UK as a whole and keep a sticky session whose exit geolocates to the nation you need; the Python tab above shows how.
UK. Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom, so Belfast exits come with -cc-gb. Ireland is a separate country code, IE.
No. Postcode-level exits are not offered. For postcode-specific checks, use the site’s own postcode or store selector from a UK exit.
Residential exits are household connections, so they come from the networks British homes use: BT, Sky, Virgin Media, TalkTalk and smaller full-fibre operators. The table above shows each one’s share of UK users. Mobile exits come from the three mobile networks.
EE’s own AS12576 was not announced in global routing in October 2026, and EE traffic appears under its parent BT’s AS2856. An EE exit that shows BT is expected.
It depends on the network. O2 is about 1% IPv6, so nearly all its phones share IPv4 addresses behind carrier-grade NAT; Three is about half IPv6. Platforms rarely block such shared addresses outright, but they do rate-limit them more often.
Google announced in April 2025 that it is redirecting country domains to google.com, and it localises results by the searcher’s location. Use a UK exit and set the country and language parameters explicitly instead of relying on the domain.
Use both: a GB exit for British prices in pounds and an IE or other EU exit for euro pricing. Retailers often run separate storefronts.
Yes. Testing your own product from a UK exit is exactly what UK IPs are for. Using them to get around protections meant for children is not supported.
